What to bring to Uni checklist!




TOP TIP:

Use the Facebook page for your House to discuss with your flatmates on what you can share to save money.


KITCHEN:

  • Plates/bowls/mugs (not your fave ones!)

  • Pots/pans (good places to buy: IKEA do good uni starter kits/supermarkets)

  • Cutlery (do not bring too many otherwise they will go missing...)

  • Kitchen accessories: chopping board, sharp knives (cutting veg/ cut meat), peeler, bottle opener, tin opener, spatula, oven trays (others to consider: grater, colander, food containers) (good places to buy: IKEA/ Wilko/Lidl supermarkets)

  • Tin foil/ cling film/ food bags/ freezer bags

  • Tea towels (multiple as these can and will get disgusting)

  • Oven gloves

  • Washing up liquid/ sponge/

  • Food:

  • Cupboard essentials: seasonings/ oil/ pasta!/ rice/ tinned food (chopped tomatoes/ baked beans)/ potatoes/ bread

  • Fridge/ freezer food - buy when you get to Cardiff! - Lidl/ Tesco/Aldi

BATHROOM:

  • If you're in shared bathroom accommodation, bring slides/flip flops!

  • Toiletries (deodorant/ body lotion/ shower gel/ shampoo/conditioner/ hand wash/ toothpaste/ toothbrush/ wash bag)

  • Rack/ basket to keep toiletries in

  • Towels/loofahs (everyone forgets these!!!)

  • Nail clippers, tweezers

  • TOILET ROLL, bleach, air freshener and other cleaning supplies

  • (Others to consider: small first aid kit, medication i.e Lemsip, Vaporub - painkillers/ personal medications)

BEDROOM:

  • Bedding: (Note that most accommodations have single beds but some are ¾ beds which we would recommend to bring double duvets for make sure you double check!)

    • Duvet + duvet covers (Massive Primark in the City Centre)

    • Pillows + pillowcases

    • Fitted sheets (will make your life easier!), MATTRESS PROTECTOR/topper(important) (good places to buy: Primark/ Wilko/ supermarkets)

  • Accessories to customise your room to make it cosy: fairy lights!, photos from home, throws, cushions, anything to make it things to your own space to crash when you're unwinding from uni (good places to buy: IKEA/ Primark)

  • Mirror/lamp/desk lamp (overhead light is very bright for when you're just chilling)

  • Stationery: pencil case, folders, stapler, hole puncher, pins for noticeboard, paper, folders, any other revision items - highlighters, sticky notes etc./ planner/calendar

  • Personal identification: Passport, Bank cards, Driving licenses

  • Electronics: laptop/ mobile + chargers/cases!, EXTENSION LEADS!

  • Clothes (everyday: underwear, t-shirts/tops, shirts, jeans, jogging bottoms, coats!, pyjamas; going out outfits + suits/ dresses for balls!/ gym kit/ SLIPPERS! + hangers!

  • Laundry bag/basket, foldable drying rack, laundry tablets (2in1 washing and fabric conditioner at Lidl)

- makes your life easier! (or can use washing powder/ fabric conditioner)

  • Rucksack/bag for uni, water bottle, small bin (may be provided)

Other things to consider: storage boxes (under bed ones are very useful!), hooks to stick on doors/walls
